Decode words using the VCCV (vowel-consonant-consonant-vowel) pattern

$7.99

All words have at least one syllable.  This video gives explicit instruction on decoding two syllable words with the VCCV pattern.  The method taught can also be used to break down complex words with more than 2 syllables.

Did you know that learners are introduced to decoding as early as Kindergarten?  They are expected to demonstrate increasing awareness and competence.  By the end of 1st grade, learners are expected to DEMONSTRATE understanding as well as know and apply grade-level phonics and word analysis skills in decoding.

What is decoding?

Decoding is the act, process, or method of forming or dividing words into syllables.

Decoding relies on the ‘rules of phonics’.  Decoding helps learners to sound out most words they aren’t familiar with at all.  It’s an even split between the auditory process (meaning to hear) & the visual process (meaning to see). A key skill to becoming a good reader is the ability to sound out words you don't know.  Decoding includes matching letters and their sounds, the ability to take apart the sounds in words (segmenting) as well as blend sounds together.

To help bridge the reading gap, Reading Solutions 101 has created hands-on, mind-on engaging lessons that provide step-by-step processes to decode words.  Each includes specific knowledge and skill to develop proficient readers and writers.
